Press CenterBottle Rock Power Selects APX, Inc. for Power Market OperationsGeothermal power generator to use APX scheduling and settlement services for the CAISO market Santa Clara, CA - February 21, 2007 - APX, Inc., a provider of market support systems and services for the energy & environmental industry, announced today that it has been selected by the geothermal power producer Bottle Rock Power, LLC (BRP) to provide power scheduling, settlement and other market services for its California power market operations. "Two things made APX a clear choice for us. First was APX's reputation and experience in the California market, which are unsurpassed. Second, cost was a key factor for us. APX's hosted business model gave us a very cost effective way to fully support our market operations in California," said Ron Suess, President of Bottle Rock Power, continuing, "Like many renewable power generators, we don't have the staff to support 24/7 market operations or handle the power scheduling activities. APX brings that expertise to us." US Renewables Group LLC (USRG), a company organized to acquire, develop and operate renewable energy and clean fuel assets has a controlling interest in BRP, whose principal asset is a 55-megawatt geothermal power plant at The Geysers Geothermal Field in northern California. USRG will refurbish and restart the Bottle Rock power plant and expects the facility to produce ~200,000 megawatt-hours of electricity annually. The Bottle Rock power plant was originally constructed, owned, and operated by the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) to service its own power consumption requirements. The operation was closed in 1990 primarily because of a field-wide steam pressure decline at The Geysers, and for economic reasons. "Wind and other renewable power generators are a rapidly growing segment of our business in power market solutions," said APX Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Tom Lewis. "Our hosted solutions have them up and running quickly with predictable on-going costs and modest up front costs, which are the reasons for our appeal in this segment." Bottle Rock power generation operations are planned to restart this quarter, and will support a power purchase agreement with Pacific Gas & Electric Company. The site will benefit from recharge technology, since The Geysers receive approximately 20 million gallons per day of clean tertiary treated waste water for injection, making it a sustainable geothermal resource. The Geysers is the largest geothermal electricity generating installation in the world. About APX, Inc. About Bottle Rock Power, LLC Contact:
