Press CenterSterling Planet Adopts APX Environmental Markets RegistrySystem Provides Increased Transparency for Leader in Voluntary Markets Santa Clara, CA - March 4, 2008 - APX, Inc., the leading platform provider for environmental and energy markets, today announced that Sterling Planet, the leader in renewable energy, energy efficiency and low-carbon solutions, is the first company to adopt APX’s revolutionary Environmental Markets Registry. APX collaborated with Sterling Planet to develop this innovative mechanism for helping clients and partners track, manage and retire environmental commodities for voluntary markets. Sterling Planet will use the Registry, powered by APX’s trusted platform for environmental commodity transactions, to better serve both buyers and suppliers of the company’s Green AmericaTM renewable energy certificates (RECs), White TagTM energy efficiency certificates, and their corresponding carbon reduction attributes. Use of the Registry is an extra measure of quality for Sterling Planet’s RECs, which are also certified by the Green-e program of the Center for Resource Solutions. These systems and certification ensure the highest levels of authenticity and transparency, and the satisfaction of stringent environmental guidelines. “At Sterling Planet, we’re intently focused on growing the environmental energy markets and proactively exceeding client expectations,” said Mel Jones, Sterling Planet President and CEO. “With the ability to create unique, serialized records valid in all 50 states, the APX Environmental Markets Registry elevates the voluntary market to enable greater product transparency, accountability and protection against double counting. We’re pleased to be the first to put the Registry to use and directly address the challenges of a rapidly evolving market.” “The demand for our high-quality, reliable and transparent data infrastructure for environmental markets continues to grow,” said John Melby, President of APX. “We are leading the trend toward greater market oversight and strengthening the substantiation of environmental claims. The APX Environmental Markets Registry will equip Sterling Planet’s clients with a foundation of trust and transparency for their environmental transactions.” For Sterling Planet clients, the Registry will provide detailed information related to the specific renewable energy, energy-efficiency and carbon-offset projects that supply their purchases, including serial numbers and all certification documents. Improved document management and expedited third-party certification will significantly reduce clients’ transaction costs and rapidly substantiate environmental claims.
