Press CenterMissouri Public Service Commission Selects APX Renewable Energy Market InfrastructureHoboken, NJ - January 19, 2010 - APX Inc., the leading infrastructure provider for environmental and energy markets, is pleased to announce that the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) has selected the North American Renewables Registry™ as the renewable energy certificate (REC) management system for Missouri Renewable Energy Standard compliance. The system will allow for origination, certification, tracking, transfer, and retirement of RECs. The first compliance year is 2011, and Missouri market participants can register now at http://narenewables.apx.com. “With the increasing focus on renewable energy programs both here and abroad, market infrastructure solutions that enable transparent REC transactions are increasingly in demand,” said Lars Kvale, Manager of APX’s renewable energy market infrastructure business, “We are pleased that the Missouri Public Service Commission and all other major North American renewable energy markets have chosen APX to support their renewable energy programs and manage their environmental assets.” The selection of APX relates to the 2008 Missouri initiative known as “Proposition C” in which voters approved Missouri’s Renewable Energy Standard (RES). The Missouri RES sets portfolio requirements for electric utilities to meet with electricity from renewable energy resources as a portion of the electric utility’s retail sales: 2% by 2011; 5% by 2014, 10% by 2018, and 15% by 2021. The RES required that the Missouri PSC, in consultation with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, select a program for tracking and verifying the trading of RECs. The Staff of the Missouri PSC will be working with APX to implement the REC management system, including scheduling training for potential system users. APX delivers a complete suite of solutions for REC market infrastructure including issuance and tracking of certificates, a full audit trail, and 24/7 support for all major North American renewable energy markets. These include markets in the Mid-Atlantic (PJM GATS), New England (NEPOOL GIS), Western States (WREGIS), Midwest (M-RETS), Texas (Texas REC), and Michigan (MIRECS), as well as the North American Renewables Registry™ for additional states and programs. From corporations and retailers to clean generators and utilities, APX infrastructure solutions ensure transparency, quality, security, accountability and protection against double counting.
