Press CenterAPX Green Power Market Certified Under Green-e ProgramCupertino & San Francisco, CA - May 29, 1998 - APX (APX) and the Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) announce the certification of the APX Green Power Market under the Green-e Renewable Electricity Program. Because APX agrees to abide by the Green-e Code of Conduct and undergo annual audits for the APX Green Power Market, it is entitled to use the Green-e logo while promoting its green market. APX supplies 100% renewable electricity through the APX Green Power Market, exceeding the Green-e requirement of 50% renewable content for the use of the Green-e logo. The APX Green Power Market matches renewable energy producers with retail providers who want to provide "green" or renewable power to their customers. Prices in the APX Green Power Market are determined by supply and demand, and represent the price buyers are willing to pay for in-state renewable resources. The APX Green Power Market includes only those "sources that meet the California Energy Commission's requirements of a "Registered Renewable Supplier" and are eligible for funding from the Renewable Resources Trust Fund. Energy provided from wind, solar, geothermal, biomass, landfill gas, and small hydro (less than 30 MW) power plants may be sold into the APX Green Power Market. APX operates the APX Markets, providing forward markets to buy and sell power up to 168 hours in advance of delivery, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition to northern and southern California electricity markets, APX provides a Green Power Market for buyers and sellers of environmentally preferred generation. APX is a privately owned firm based in California's Silicon Valley.
