APX continues our to contribute to the industry by active membership through the following organizations:
Western Power Trading Forum (WPTF)
The Western Power Trading Forum is a broad-based membership organization dedicated to encouraging competition in Western states electric markets. The WPTF goal is to reduce the long-run cost of electricity to consumers throughout the region, and maintain the current high level of system reliability.
WPTF actions focus on developing competitive electricity markets throughout the Western states. By developing uniform operating rules to facilitate transactions among market participants, a vital energy market can be established. The WPTF also provides a unified voice which can influence the development of market structures throughout the region.
Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC)
The Western Electricity Coordinating Council continues to be responsible for coordinating and promoting electric system reliability as had been done by WSCC since its formation. In addition to promoting a reliable electric power system in the Western Interconnection, WECC will support efficient competitive power markets, assure open and non-discriminatory transmission access among members, provide a forum for resolving transmission access disputes, and provide an environment for coordinating the operating and planning activities of its members as set forth in the WECC Bylaws.
International Emissions Trading Organization (IETA)
The International Emissions Trading Organization (IETA) is dedicated to the objectives of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and ultimately climate protection. IETA is also dedicated to the establishment of effective market-based trading systems for greenhouse gas emissions by businesses that are demonstrably fair, open, efficient, accountable and consistent across national boundaries as well as maintaining societal equity and environmental integrity while establishing these systems.
The Environmental Markets Association (EMA)
The Environmental Markets Association is the premiere trade association for environmental industry professionals who are active or interested in the market-based solutions to combat pollution and create a sustainable environment.
The mission of the Environmental Markets Association is to promote market-based trading solutions for environmental management and to serve its membership in order to: Promote the advancement and application of policy and regulation relevant to market-based emission trading systems. Encourage and facilitate information exchange among members, other professional and technical groups and the public. Provide programs in education and training to improve both the knowledge and skills of members and the understanding and acceptance by the public.
American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE)
The American Council On Renewable Energy works to bring all forms of renewable energy into the mainstream of America’s economy and lifestyle.
ACORE is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C. with paying members from every aspect and sector of the renewable energy industries and their trade associations, including wind, solar, geothermal, biomass and biofuels, hydropower tidal/current energy and waste energy. The scope of ACORE’s membership also spans – among others – financial institutions, government leaders, educators, end-users, professional service providers and allied non-profit groups.
California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA)
California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA) works to improve and preserve a strong business climate for California's 30,000 Manufacturers, processors and technology based companies. For more than 85 years, CMTA has worked with state government to develop balanced laws, regulations and policies that stimulate economic growth and create new jobs while safeguarding the state's environmental resources. CMTA represents businesses from the entire manufacturing community - a segment of our economy that contributes more than $250 billion annually and employs more than 1.5 million Californians.
California Wind Energy Association (CalWEA)
The California Wind Energy Association is a non-profit corporation supported by members of the wind energy industry, including turbine manufacturers, project developers and owners, component suppliers, support contractors and others. CalWEA represents its members in California's policy forums, seeking to encourage and support the production of electricity through the use of wind generators.
TechNet
TechNet is the bipartisan, political network of CEOs and Senior Executives that promotes the growth of technology and the innovation economy. TechNet focuses on politics and policy by bringing its members together with our nation's policy makers to sustain and advance America's global leadership in innovation. In addition to its offices in Washington, DC and Silicon Valley, TechNet has a presence in the high-tech centers of Southern California, New England, Texas and the Pacific Northwest.
